Coming home from work and seeing him light up to play trains, build castles with Magna-Tiles or Legos, work in the garden with me, walk the dog, or go on an adventure is the greatest feeling in the world. The only better feeling is when he says “love you so much” at bedtime. I live for those moments. Witnessing him learn and grow is motivating and drives me to be a better husband, father & man.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I've seen that the bond between father and son takes work. It can quietly slip away if you let it. I always want to be close with Archie. He's young now, but I'm already thinking about who I want to be to him at 10, 15, 25. My dream is to rent motorcycles and ride through Europe with him once he graduates college. I think about that trip (and iterations of that trip) a lot. My mission is to support him, love him, encourage him, and guide him always, no matter what.
How would you use the $25,000?
I'd put it in Archie's college fund and custodial brokerage account. It's not the flashy answer, but I want him to have options at 18. I'd also carve out a piece for a family trip together - my mother always told me that kids remember summers and family trips more than anything else.
