The most rewarding part is helping shape my daughters into kind, gracious and responsible people. Being adopted through foster care, they didn’t just become my children—I was given the incredible privilege of becoming their dad. I get to guide them, teach them, encourage them and help them understand the importance of hard work, compassion and treating others well. Seeing those lessons take root makes every sacrifice worth it.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
My job is dangerous, and every time I leave for work, I know there is no guarantee I’ll come home. It reminds me how important our time together is. I want my daughters to know how deeply they are loved and, someday, look back on their childhood with wonderful memories of the time we spent together—the adventures, camping trips, laughter and ordinary days at home.
How would you use the $25,000?
I would use the money to give my daughters two things: an adventure they’ll remember for the rest of their lives and a place at home where they can make memories for years to come. We’d take the trip they’ve always dreamed of, and I’d build them a playhouse in our backyard—a place for them to play, imagine and grow up together.
