Watching Hayden and Henry become their own people and discovering the things we love doing together. Hayden and I can spend hours building LEGO sets, robotics and electronics—figuring out how things work and creating something together. Henry and I connect through sports; if there’s a ball involved, we’re playing it—soccer, baseball, football or basketball. They’re completely different kids, and I love meeting each of them in their world. Watching them grow while building their individuality.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
My dad passed away before he ever had the chance to meet Hayden and Henry, so a big part of being their dad is passing on what he taught me about how to be a good man. I want my boys to learn to work hard, treat people well, take care of their family, laugh at themselves, and get back up when things don’t go as planned. I know I won’t always get it right, but I want them to grow up knowing their dad showed up, loved them, and when things don’t go to plan we work through it until we solve it.
How would you use the $25,000?
I’d put it toward finally building a garage and workshop for our family. We don’t have a garage now, and I’ve always wanted a space where I can work on projects and, more importantly, teach Hayden and Henry how to build, fix things and work with their hands. I can already picture the three of us out there making a mess, learning together and probably making a few extra trips to Ace because Dad forgot something! The $25,000 wouldn’t just build a garage—it would build a place our family will love.
