Making my children always know they are loved, and always spending the time with them to explore and be kids in the 90 days I have them each year. Being their dad has been my biggest blessing in life, even with all of the troubles of life. Talking to them when they are with their mom, on a daily basis, to ask about their days and pray with them and hearing them call me dad and hug me, even virtually, is my reward.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I want my children to know that they can do anything as long as they work towards it, but that family values and old school concepts like my Grandpa taught me are how to do it. Family is everything, and that value has been lost in time. My father was not around much while he was deployed and I didn't have a good father figure to show me until I was granted to go to my Grandpa's because he had obligations with the Army. I want them to always know, even at 50 years old, that they can come to me!
How would you use the $25,000?
I would put some just for exploring with them, and then I would use some to move closer to them so I could see them every week, as I currently live 700+ miles away from them due to the split up with their mom (whom I have taught them not to resent even with her moving so far away after the split up) I would take some of it for them to take out their friends that don't have active fathers, and I would try to start a community program for less fortunate kids with what's left.
