Knowing that I am doing everything within my power to make their life better than mine, and every once in a while they acknowledge it. I get to be present for their games, plays, projects, and more as I watch them learn and enjoy new skills and take pride in their work. My son is teaching himself piano and video editing. My daughter excels in theatre and sports. It is truly awesome to see!!! And roller coasters... They're old enough to go on roller coasters now, and we love doing it together!!!
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I came from a broken home. My parents did what they could, and so did I, but I lacked direction, discipline, and guidance. I still managed to attain a cool career as a Sound Guy; working in the Circus, then Broadway, and I even got to do sound for and meet 3 U.S. Presidents. After moving from the Bronx to Cleveland, these accomplishments started meaning less if I couldn't be home with my family. I became a CLE Cop to lead by example in a new way, and to have more time to be the best father I can
How would you use the $25,000?
My son and daughter get $5K each to be put into something that will gain some compounding interest until they need it for college or another equally important life transition at the age of 18. $5K for a fun family vacation!!! The remaining $10K to help pay down some bills, and offset all the money we spent in the 10x12 "Clubhouse" I am building for them (spent a lot of $ at Ace Hardware), and the pool we got for them. And we definitely got to get some more season passes for Roller Coasters!!!
