Being a fully active and present dad is one of the best rewards a man can ask for in my opinion. How a man can turn his back on his children, who didn't ask to be brought into the world, is beyond me. Fatherhood takes more than just being present, it takes care, understanding, grace, mercy, attentiveness, active listening, discipline, and love. I consider daddyhood a huge reward because I know my children will reciprocate this with their families, paying it forward.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I have to be the best dad because I come from a lineage of abusive, toxic, and absent men. Drug and alcohol abuse were common in my upbringing, which contributed to unhealthy parenting that was difficult to navigate. Breaking these generational dynamics is extremely important so that my children have a healthy foundation to build on. My striving to set the bar and be an ample is crucial to their development and being prepared for the real world. I'm setting my six children up for success!
How would you use the $25,000?
I would continue to invest in my children's future through custodial accounts, college savings, credit building, and a trust fund. I have a few investments in place to establish their financial mobility, but $25k would be exceptionally beneficial. I would invest funds in my transitional housing non profit which helps people in need of safe, stable housing with wraparound supportive services. I've always taught my kids to serve and help others, and plan to hand this business down to my children.
