It’s the day to day interaction. I grew up with boomers as my parents. It wasn’t their fault, they had to work all day but getting the opportunity to stay home was a top priority for me. The most rewarding is the part when they start school and they say they miss you every minute of the day. That’s when I knew taking them to a different park or playground every day made a huge difference! They are on Team Winter and all of the teachers tell me how great they listen and help their classmates.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I had a great family with great grandparents and I want to share it by using my time to raise the best boys! My parents had a hard time keeping up and we had the opportunity to do more. My grandfather specifically, he took me out and I was his right hand man as we built fence on the farm or mowed church lawns as he taught me how to use a riding lawnmower for the first time! I want my boys to know what that’s like! Leading by example and just being available all the time!
How would you use the $25,000?
I’m looking for a way to put my woodshop tools to work. I have a CNC router and a router table that could help with planing some of my epoxy projects. This is the first year that both kids started school so I have a little time. I’d like to use the money to rent a larger space in one of the Maker shops around Omaha. Our garage is just too small! Ace is one of my favorite places to get some of my tools and I’m always watching their coupons! It would be great!
