The shirt on my back says, "Repeat after me... Yes Coach!" As long as they wanted me, I was their coach. Whether we're hiking the Grand Canyon, skiing, playing soccer, or just hanging out together, I've learned the greatest gift I can give my kids is my time. They may not remember every game or every trip, but I hope they remember the laughter, the adventures, and that Dad was always there. If they do, I've already won.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
They get one childhood and one dad. I can't give them everything, but I can give them my time, my attention, and the confidence that they'll always have someone in their corner. If they grow up feeling loved, supported, and ready to face the world, then I've done my job.
How would you use the $25,000?
First, we’d use it to help cover the mountain of expenses from our son’s cancer treatment, so we can keep focusing on him. Next, I’d give a portion to Boston Children’s and Dana-Farber. I owe the incredible people there more than I could ever repay for helping give me back my world. Finally, we’d put the rest toward our kids’ college funds and if it's in their futures. If they're lucky, maybe I'll even stop reminding them that college isn't free. (Spoiler, I probably won't.)
