The most rewarding part of being a dad is when I see my son learning in real time, connecting the dots, and understanding how to do something on his own. I am formerly a substitute teacher who prides himself on making learning fun & inspiring students to remain curious. When I see my son smiling & laughing while learning it makes all of those early morning, chaotic phone calls from school administrators worthwhile.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I strive to be the best dad I can be, because I saw how much my father sacrificed to provide for his family. He is a painter, carpenter & jack-of-all-trades who did his best not to pass on the traumas of his childhood to mine. Although, he was not perfect, he was present & he tried his best, which is all I can ask for.
How would you use the $25,000?
The first thing I would do with that $25k is head on down to Franklin’s Ace Hardware in Woodland Hills, CA & pick up the supplies to build my son a proper sand box (not the plastic concrete mixing tub he has now). Then I’d set the rest aside to pay for his early education/child care. He was just accepted to “The Love School” in Topanga, CA where we reside, and this will help a great deal as my wife and I continue to find work after taking time off to learn the ropes of being new parents.
