The most rewarding part of being a dad is watching my son grow and learn in a safe and clean environment. Watching him become this sweet, caring, and loving boy because of my efforts and protection heals the kid in me. There were a lot of moments where I wasn't sure if he was going to be ok after his Hirschsprungs diagnosis and spending 28 days in the NICU but after doing all the required, treatments there is nothing that can stop my son. My son is a warrior, nothing is more rewarding than that.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I strive to be the best dad so that I can be the person I needed when I was little for him. Showing up for my son every day and knowing that no matter what happens he will never have to suffer or struggle in the ways that I did reconciles the holes that were put in my spirit when I was a kid. There are so many challenges when you grow up without a good father figure and I know how much easier my life would have been with one. My son will never question how hard I tried or how much I love him.
How would you use the $25,000?
I would use the 25k to fix my credit and buy a permanent home for my son. I lived my entire life in motels and apartments and right before he was born I rented a house so he could grow up with a higher quality of life but it would be cool to see him grow up in the same home his whole life, a place where he knows he is always home no matter what happens in life. I would also set up a college fund for him because I never got the chance to go to college and I want him to have every opportunity
