The most rewarding part of being Carson's dad is watching him enjoy life. We're raising him to be kind and loving, but the best part has been seeing how damn funny he's become. He lights up a room with his laughter. I like to think my wife and I had a hand in that — partly by setting the example in how we act, but also by making sure I'm present, putting in hours with him every single day.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I strive to be the best dad in the world because I want Carson to have the best life possible. I want him to look back on his childhood fondly. I want him to grow up smarter and more thoughtful than I was — not because I had a rough childhood, but because we should all want our kids to be better than us. Who Carson becomes as an adult will be shaped by the dad I am and the mom my wife is. Every single thing he experiences now is building the person he'll be later.
How would you use the $25,000?
The $25,000 goes straight to Carson's future. Maybe a house, maybe college, maybe the tools to start his own trade business — whatever path he chooses. A percentage goes to charity, because we're teaching him to save for his own future and to help people in need when we're lucky enough to be able to. I wouldn't be much of a super dad if I even thought about spending a dime of it on myself.
