The most rewarding part of being a dad is watching my children become who they were meant to be. From coaching baseball and seeing my son become an All-Star, to cooking pizza and fried corn with my kids, the memories mean everything to me. Fatherhood has taught me that sometimes the greatest gift isn't what you give your children, but the love, confidence and character you help build inside them. I love seeing the light bulb go off! Knowing I helped shape their lives is my greatest reward.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I strive to be the best dad I can be because my children are my greatest legacy. My father taught me that your word is your bond, and I want my children to know that my love and commitment to them are just as dependable. Life has taught me that I cannot protect my children from every hardship, but I can teach them character, stand beside them, and remind them to hang in there. I want my kids to grow up knowing their dad loved them, believed in them and never stopped until my last breath.
How would you use the $25,000?
I would invest a portion of the winnings to my friend Fred Ramsey. He passed away due to a muscular disease that my son also had. He was instrumental in helping me as a Hall director in college. It was a great friend to me. Also, I would set aside portion for my children’s education and also contribute to a local foundation in my hometown. That does great work.
