The best part is knowin my kids see me as their dad, not just the guy payin bills and keepin the lights on. My daughter and stepkids are all different ages, so being a dad looks different with each one. But when they come to me for help, advice, a laugh, or just because they know I'll show up that's the good stuff. That's what makes all the long days worth it.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Because they're watchin even when I don't think they are. I work full time, go to electrical school at night, and some days I'm flat wore out—but I still show up. I want my kids to see that you can get knocked around, change direction, learn something new, and keep building a better life. I ain't trying to be a perfect dad. I just want to be the kind of dad they can count on every single time.
How would you use the $25,000?
I'd use it like a dad—probably the least flashy way possible. Pay down some bills, put money away for the kids, get the tools I need as I move into the electrical trade, and take my wife and kids somewhere we can actually slow down and make a memory together. $25,000 wouldn't change who I am. It'd just give my family some breathing room and help me keep building what I'm already working my ass off for.
