Being able to see the influence I have on my son is everything. Not only watching him grow, but watching him pick up the good tendencies I've tried to instill in him is beyond rewarding. Hearing from his teachers or other coaches how well he has adjusted to our new normal without Mom is amazing. He is the strongest kid I know and I'm lucky to be his Dad.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I'm all he's got, and he's all I got. I have to make sure that he can experience life to the fullest each and every day, making as many memories as we can. Whether it being getting PCA to throw us a ball at Wrigley Field, coaching his basketball and baseball teams to the best of my ability while making sure the boys know its not just a game, its a constant platform of learning. Every team I coach, I ask for 4 things. Hustle, Respect, Focus and most importantly, HAVE FUN! It's just a game, right?
How would you use the $25,000?
Starting a college fund for him first and foremost - that is key. But I'd also love to be able to give back to his Youth Sports Leagues. Whether its materials for updating dugouts, buying equipment for basketball, giving back is just as important as being smart and saving for the future. That shows HIM what it means to be a good person, to help others in need if you have the capability, and sometimes even if you don't. I'd do anything for my son, but I just want him to be happy and proud of me.
