The little moments I know won’t stay little. My sons helping me build something, asking endless questions, climbing into my lap, or proudly showing me something they’ve learned. Fatherhood has taught me that an ordinary Tuesday can become a memory I’ll miss for the rest of my life. Watching them grow is bittersweet, but knowing I get to help shape the men they become—and soon raise our daughter too—is the greatest privilege of my life.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Because I only get one chance to raise these children. Careers change, money comes and goes, projects can be rebuilt, but their childhood happens once. When they’re grown, I don’t care whether they remember me as impressive. I want them to remember that Dad showed up. That he loved Mom. That he taught us things. That he kept his word. That home felt safe when he was there. If I can give them that, I’ll consider fatherhood a life well spent.
How would you use the $25,000?
I’d use it to build something my children can actually grow up in. We’re raising two little boys, expecting our daughter, and working to turn 30 acres into a family homestead. The money would go toward establishing our home and property—not luxury, but roots. A garden, animals, projects built together, and room for three (or more!) kids to have the kind of childhood that gets dirt under their fingernails and gives them stories they’ll tell their own children.
