Giving my kids the opportunity to experience life in ways I never had the chance to, while teaching them the lessons I had to learn the hard way. Watching them grow into their own people, knowing I helped give them the love, guidance, and foundation to become better than I ever was, that’s what would make being a dad most rewarding.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I strive to be the best dad I can be because I know first hand what it feels like to grow up without the stability and experiences every child deserves. Having been in foster care, I understand how much a child can be affected by the things they don't have. I want my kids to experience a life better than the one I had, to feel loved, supported, protected, and never question whether they have someone there for them. I want to give them the childhood I wish I had.
How would you use the $25,000?
If I won the $25,000, I’d use it to give my kids an experience they could remember for the rest of their lives and someday pass on to their own children. Being away from them on deployment makes our time together even more valuable. I’d use part of it to create special memories and give us extra time together when I return. I'd also be putting some toward their future. To me, the greatest gift isn’t what I can buy them, but the memories, opportunities, and foundation I can give them as a family.
