Having kids completely alters the prioritization of your life on the day they’re born. Things you thought were important suddenly become noise and you now know all that matters is trying to slow time down enough to experience every moment because as they grow you can see in real time the brevity of it all. I think perspective and purpose are the two most rewarding parts of being a father. Having clear understanding of what matters and waking up each day to the most important job that exists.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I strive to be the best dad I can be because I know as parents our choices, actions, and the examples we set will help shape the people our children will become. I want to give endless love, guidance, and be a strong example to follow so the next generation has every opportunity to become better than me. I believe that is our responsibility as parents; to give our kids the foundation and every resource we can for them to go further than we ever could.
How would you use the $25,000?
I’d use the prize to create more time and memories with my family. Of course we can’t create time, but we can relieve the burden of distractions that cause it to pass without meaning. I’d take my family on a trip to explore, learn, and experience something new together to foster the growing sense of wonder. As we get older the world seems to spins faster every day so more than anything I’d use this gift to give my family more moments to slow down, be together, and be present with each other.
