Watching my daughter discover the world. The wonder in her eyes at the smallest things, a butterfly, a puddle, a song on the radio- makes ordinary moments feel like magic. She’s taught me to slow down and see life the way she does, like everything is worth marveling at. No success I’ve ever had feels as good as her little hand in mine.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Because she’s counting on me, even if she doesn’t know it yet. Kids don’t remember what we bought them, they remember that we were there. I want her to grow up knowing, deep in her bones, that her dad showed up: on the good days, the hard days and every ordinary day in between. If I get that right, the rest will take care of itself.
How would you use the $25,000?
Every dollar goes into savings for her education. She’s still little, but I already dream about the day she tells me what she wants to be. Whatever that dream is- doctor, artist, astronaut or something I can’t even imagine yet- I want to be able to say, ‘Go for it, Dad’s got you.’ This would be the start of that promise.
