It is just such an honor to do life alongside them. It is an amazing miracle to watch them grow and mature, and become their own person. That and so much more makes it rewarding, but if any dad is truly honest with themselves, it is also a massive responsibility. Being a father forces me in a good way to walk with integrity as best I can, to extend grace and seek humility each day. In that regard, being a dad truly has made me a better person because I have been forced to think of myself less.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I view my children not as mine, but as a gift. Therefore I view my role as a steward or manager over them for a limited amount of time. My wife and I have always made a commitment to try to raise the best humans we possibly could so that society is bettered and they pass those virtues onto their children. I strive to be the best dad I can be because I want my ceiling to be their floor. I want to embed in them the tools they need to be successful and to show genuine love to the world.
How would you use the $25,000?
Like anyone can attest, life is expensive. I’ve never been able to purchase a new car in my entire life. We live a good but simple life. My son is turning 16 next year and he will need a car and I don’t have sufficient funds to cover it. My daughter also needs braces next year. I would love to use a portion of it to go on an adventure out west and let them see some of our beautiful national parks. So no worries… We’ll make use of it!
