Besides earning every gray hair and bald spot? It’s when my kids are genuinely excited to see me come home from work. Being their dad has taught me patience, grace, humility, and that I definitely don’t have all the answers. Through every tantrum, laugh, mistake, hug, and lesson, they’ve challenged me to become a better man. Knowing I get to help shape who they become—and that they’re shaping me along the way—is the greatest reward I could ask for.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Because I know I only get so much time with them while they’re young, and I want to make it count. Watching them grow brings overwhelming love, pride and joy, along with a little sadness wishing I could have done even more. I’m excited to see who they become, the dreams they chase, and where life takes them. I just want them to always know their dad was there, loved them fiercely, believed in them, and never took being their dad for granted.
How would you use the $25,000?
I’d use it for three things: their future, our memories, and our home. I’d start an education fund to give them more opportunities, take the family on a trip to create memories we’ll never forget, and fix up our backyard so we have a place to laugh, play, and spend time together. Most importantly, I want to create a home they love being in now and always know they can come back to, no matter where life takes them.
