I've waited so long to just even be a dad. And now that I'm here, the most rewarding part is seeing the world become new again through her eyes. Her laugh can turn the hardest day around. I love the big moments, but it's the little ones; holding her while she sleeps, making her smile and laugh, being the person she reaches for...that I never want to forget. She's only little once, and I get a front-row seat!
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
My dad gave me a childhood full of love and adventure, and I want to pass that gift to Kit. I want her to grow up seeing what kindness, hard work, faith, and loving her mom look like. I even turned the bedtime stories my dad told me as a kid into a children's book for her. Someday, I hope she looks back and knows that her dad didn't just tell her to be brave, curious, and kind, but that he lived it alongside her.
How would you use the $25,000?
I'd give her a head start by putting much of the $25,000 toward her education and future. I'd also set aside some for family adventures; days on the lake, trips together, and memories she can look back on. I can't buy her a perfect childhood, but I can use this opportunity to help build a secure future while making the most of the years we get to spend together.
