Seeing the training, and lessons, and disciplines that I've worked so hard to instill in them take root when they make decisions that I wish someone would have helped me make as my younger self. I love seeing them laugh at their mistakes and try again rather than what I was taught/learned, which was to call myself stupid, get angry, and quit.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I think of how strong and smart that I am, and I think of just how many lessons I had to learn through hard knocks or via bad examples - imagine how much of a better man I would have been if I had myself to teach and guide me along the way. My motivation is to be the father these kids (who are so smart, clever, and genuinely good) DESERVE. I want to be someone that they look back on their life and see me as a force of constant love and positivity and are glad I was their dad and not someone else
How would you use the $25,000?
We have a few house projects and some car issues that need addressed, and then the older two are driving age. Being able to get a reliable 3rd vehicle for school would be a big benefit for our family, especially as we're a one income family. And we'd take a few more PTO days and go on some more family road trips before they're too cool to think that's a fun plan. This money would help me fulfill the promises I've made to myself to better these four kids' lives.
