Getting to watch a mini version of me grow into her own person. My daughter has her mom's smarts, but she definitely gets her wit from me! Watching her work hard these past few months to start her own 3D printing business has been incredible. I see so much of myself in her: the creativity, determination, and desire to build something of her own. Getting to encourage that and watch her succeed is one of the greatest rewards of being her dad.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I grew up without a dad, so I've always wanted my daughter to know that hers is here and will always support her. I want to give her a strong foundation while also teaching her to stand on her own two feet. I won't always be able to solve every problem for her, but I can teach her how to face them, work hard, have confidence in herself, and know that Dad will always be in her corner.
How would you use the $25,000?
We'd put it to work for our whole family. $5,000 would go toward Kay Squared, my daughter's growing 3D printing business, to help her continue turning her creativity into something of her own. We'd invest $10,000 into my business to continue growing what I've built since retiring from the Marines. The remaining $10,000 would go toward our home and helping us finally complete repairs and restoration from Hurricane Florence back in 2018.
