I've worked in construction and the trades since I was a teen. I really enjoy my work and those bonds of brotherhood, but nothing in this life will make you more of a man than being wrapped around a tiny little girl's finger. Becoming a dad, specifically to two girls (soon to be three), has pushed me to be more patient, kind, and empathetic than I once had the capacity for. Seeing the joy on your kid's face just from walking in the door beats anything I've ever seen and doesn't cost a dime.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Today's dads are realizing and discussing the importance of emotional intelligence when raising kids. I'm never going to do this perfectly and each child is unique with their own needs. My girls have their own personalities, but I still see a lot of myself in them. I often refer to my own inner child and try to be the person that I needed when I was their age. Things we think are little could be everything to them, so I try to show up, be present, be patient and say "I love you" all the time.
How would you use the $25,000?
We bought a real fixer upper house in 2019 and after pouring years of blood, sweat, and tears into the property, what once was intended to be a stepping stone now feels like a place we never want to leave. There's just one big problem - we are expecting our third girl in February 2026 and are busting at the seams. Right now my wife and I are trying to save every penny towards our ultimate goal, an addition to give our kids a playroom and another bedroom. $25,000 would help tremendously!
