Being able to see your kids grow and evolve. They come into this world small and vulnerable. You feel you need to do everything you can to protect them. You don't know if you can. That is the challenge that makes fatherhood worthwhile. To see them smile, crawl, bike, create art, create music, get a good grade, be a good person. Being proud of your children is rewarding. Seeing them grow and feeling that evolution of them and yourself into a better person, a better husband, and a better father.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I strive more than ever, because I know how important their life is to me, to my wife, to their siblings, to their friends, and to all the people who love them. We lost our oldest daughter 4 years ago. She was sixteen. I will never see her grow up, to be that person that I knew she could be, that I hoped for her to be, the person as an adult I would love. I strive for her. For her sisters, because they do not have a big sister anymore. They need to know I loved her and I love them.
How would you use the $25,000?
I have been unemployed for the last year due to layoffs within the IT and Federal Contracting industry. It has been a difficult struggle. As a father, you are the provider, but the world is not allowing you to provide, you keep going because you have to provide for your family. I would use this money to pay bills, to pay for my daughters' schooling, buy a gift for my supportive wife, to memorialize my daughter, to invest in myself so I can keep being a Super Dad, and loving every minute of it!
