The most rewarding part is knowing Jalen chose to let me into his heart as his dad. I may not have been there the day he was born, but I was blessed to adopt him and choose him forever. Watching him grow into the young man he is today—and sharing the everyday moments, the lessons, the laughter and even the hard times—has given my life a purpose bigger than myself. Being his dad has taught me that family is built not only by blood, but by showing up, loving unconditionally and never walking away.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I strive to be the best dad I can because Jalen is always watching how I treat his mom, handle adversity and care for people who need help. I want him to learn that being a good man is not measured by what you own, but by how you love your family, keep your word and serve others. My wife and son made me a better man, and together we use Mr. Sudsy to give back through our 12 Days of Christmas and my wiffleball tournament benefiting Oliver’s Heroes. I want my example to become part of his legacy.
How would you use the $25,000?
I would use the $25,000 to strengthen the two things that matter most to me: my family and my community. I would put part toward Jalen’s future and create a special family experience we will remember for the rest of our lives. I would also use a portion to expand the giving we do through Mr. Sudsy’s 12 Days of Christmas and support the retired police K-9s served by Oliver’s Heroes. Winning would not stop with our family—it would help us create hope and lasting memories for other families, too.
