Watching my kids grow and become independent. If they retain something I taught, that’s something they will carry for the rest of their lives. A part of me will always be with them even after I’m gone. If I teach the to tie there shoes, ride a bike, the alphabet, etc. They can cherish the memory like I do and pay it forward to their kids. The goal of being a dad is setting your kids up to be functional adults, but the reward is watching them grow on the journey.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I strive because I want my kids to have a solid example. Growing up without a father I put together an idea of what a father figure is supposed to look like through family sitcoms. I understood that the dad is suppose to be emotionally open, head strong, a problem solver, patient, kind, and wise. I always wanted to my kids to see me how the world seen these amazing TV dads.
How would you use the $25,000?
I would start a UGMA/UTMA for all four of my kids. I had a rough time starting off in the world with nothing financially and little knowledge about how the big world worked. As a dad, my goal is to prepare them for adulthood, define what success looks like to them, and have successful futures by their definitions.
