Being a part of every key moment of my boys life, from teaching them how to ride a bike to how to drive. I think every parent wants to give their children a better life than they had growing up, and I have been fortunate enough to give that to my boys. Moreover, my hope was always that they would be solid men and happy adults. I've been blessed to see two of them become amazing men, get married, and buy their first home. What better reward could you ask for.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
We did not have much growing up. My dad was a volunteer firefighter who later got a paying firefighter's job. He worked for 30 years in that role, working several other part-time jobs to provide for us. I learned so much from him and looked up to him. In so many ways he set the kind of example as a man that I wanted to emulate when I became a father.
How would you use the $25,000?
My youngest son is in his senior year of high school and will soon be heading off to college. I would like to help with his college expenses and take my beautiful wife on an amazing trip to see the Christmas markets in Germany and Austria. I would also like to be able to help my parents with their living arrangements and care for my dad, who is not in the best of help.
