Having the ability to teach my kids - and then watch them use those lessons in their daily lives. I try to teach them something new every day, whether it’s explaining something intricate or as simple as saying thank you. There is no greater reward than watching your kids laugh and play, knowing that you provide them the safety and they need from a father. Nothing is better than hearing that “Daddy!!!” When you walk through the door after work.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
My father and I had a rocky relationship, coming to an end when I was a young. I lost out on any good “father-son” moments, but at least I learned how NOT to be. I try to be the best dad I can be so my kids have a role model, a teacher, and a safety net. I try to be as honest as I can with them because showing your kids that things can be hard is a good thing too, as perseverance is important. I have a lot of life experience between the military and moving around so enjoy sharing that with them.
How would you use the $25,000?
I would use half to put in my boys’ savings accounts and the other half to work towards a down payment on a bigger house or some land to build on. Having to live paycheck to paycheck has been hard so the money would go a long way to helping us reach our goals. I would also get the wife a spa day, for sure.
