Watching my son adapt, learn, and take on the little challenges of life is incredibly rewarding. But what gets me most is the unconditional love he gives me back. I’m not a perfect dad, and I know I’ll make mistakes, but seeing how he looks at me and how much he loves and trusts me means everything. Some of my favorite moments are the simplest ones: chasing trash trucks through the neighborhood or sitting nose-to-nose while he brushes my eyebrows and we cuddle in silence.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
There are so many distractions competing for our attention, and I want my son and my wife to always know they come first. Sometimes my son just wants me in the room while he plays. I’ll ask, “Do you need anything?” and he’ll say, “I just need you, Dad.” That has stuck with me. I want to be the dad who shows up, cares, listens, and gives him the support to become his own person and build a life he loves.
How would you use the $25,000?
I’d put the $25,000 toward our family’s future. Some would go toward improvements to the home where we’re raising our son, and the rest would go into savings for him, potentially toward college or whatever path he chooses. I want to give him resources and opportunities as he gets older, while also building a home filled with the memories and traditions he’ll grow up with.
