The small stuff that isn’t small at all. It’s hearing “Dad, watch this” for the 20th time and still acting amazed. It’s seeing my son learn something I taught him. The most rewarding part is knowing I’m his safe place. No matter what kind of day I’ve had, coming home to him reminds me why I work so hard.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
Because he didn’t get to pick me, so I owe it to him to be the best version I can be. I want my son to look back and know his dad showed up — for the games, the hard talks, the everyday boring stuff. He matters more than anything else. I want to raise a good human who knows he is loved.
How would you use the $25,000?
First, I’d catch up on bills so my son never has to worry if the lights stay on. Then I’d set some aside for their future — college funds or trade school, whatever they choose. I’d take us on one real family trip, because time together beats anything money can buy. And I’d fix my truck so I can keep getting to work. Every dollar would go to giving them stability and memories.
