Spending quality time with my kids, watching them play and talk and laugh together. When the comet/ meteor shower happened a few weeks ago, we all went out into the woods to a clearing and watched the sky, talking and laughing and telling stories for hours. The sky lit up all around us with magical sights that I will never forget, and I know they won’t either. As I laid there with my family watching the sky, I felt lucky to have teens that actually enjoy each other.
Why do you strive to be the best dad you can be?
I loved my dad, but he was a very absent father. He left my mom when I was young, leaving me with no male role model in my life. He then died years later when I was serving in the military. I never got to reconcile that relationship with him. I never got to share my love of photography, cinema, and art with him, regardless of him being an artist/photographer as well. Because of that I strive to be the best role model and dad for my kids, sharing hobbies and our love of the arts, as a family.
How would you use the $25,000?
As a disabled vet, I live in constant pain. Because of that, house renovations and repairs are hard. Not just money wise but physically taxing. With the money I would hire people to repair the home and renovate some of it. We dream of having an art studio in that clearing in the woods. Or even just finishing out my studio in the garage. Ac, dry wall, organization would go along way. A modest pool to help rehabilitate my broken body would be nice as well.
